JomSocial Labs: Location Field

Creating a custom profile to make your site unique has always been easy in JomSocial. Administrators could choose from a range of different fields and build a profile form specifically for their communities.

But location information has always been problematic. Obtaining accurate location data has meant that users needed to complete no fewer than five different fields.

That wasn’t just tedious. It also created a privacy problem for the radius search, a new feature we developed in JomSocial 4.3. Maintaining privacy over five different fields was hard.

So we decided to create an entirely new location field. It’s easier to use and handles location privacy much more efficiently.
