I there. I've upgraded an old version (working fine!) with newest but... Now it's impossible to see the social component with another template.... I've assign menu element with another template, after upgrade not work!
Cache of joomla, browser are cleaned...

EDIT: Found the solution. Deactivating the plugin "System - Jomsocial Redirect", new template works fine!

Hi David. No, i think isn't solved....I explain... if I activate Social Profile Jomsocial and/or System - Jomsocial Redirect plugins, the assigned template change to default. Also inverting the situation (Jomsocial in default template and assign one other template to other component) make templating problem to the other component, assuming the default template... I hope to explain correctly...

Is important to use two Jomsocial plugins because without them jfbconnect not import correctly the avatar user from FB.

Main menu items for jomsocial must having higher menu ID than Jomsocial Toolbar ID. and Jomsocial Toolbar items only can follow default template, can't assigned template. Because that if you assign any template to Main menu items, it will follow assigned template. but if you click jomsocial toolbar menu, the template will changing back to default.

And if main menu item ID more lower than jomsocial toolbar menu ID. you will got joomla item ID issue. that why the main menu item ID must higher than jomsocial toolbar.

sorry but... i don't understand... if I change ID Jomsocial Toolbar (lower than Menu assignet to other template) work with assigned template?
Becouse the problem is visible when one or two (your) plugins are actived: Social Profile Jomsocial and/or System - Jomsocial Redirect. Now the component work without problem!

- your site using template X as default template
- you create main menu item, menu A. this menu is a Jomsocial frontend
- after that you assigning template Y to menu A.

The result Menu A will have template Y. But other jomsocial pages will follow template X (default template).

simple say, Jomsocial only will follow default template.
