You have some problem with you cURL setting, to fix it you need disabled autoupdate manually, open this file /administrator/components/com_community/views/configuration/view.html.php, find this code :

$isuptodate = CAutoUpdate::checkUpdate();

$isuptodate = true;

This issue caused by server configuration issue, your "max_input_time" on php configuration is not fit with Jomsocial needs, you need change it.
